Software Engineering Lead

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Lead to join our team onsite in Islamabad. This senior, full-time position requires over 10 years of software development experience, including leadership roles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong British accent and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with UK-based stakeholders. In this role, you will mentor a skilled development team and lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and modern web applications. As a technical leader, you will influence software architecture, enforce best practices, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that provide real business value.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Ownership: Lead a team of software engineers in designing and building modern web applications using advanced frontend and backend technologies. Define, document, and enforce coding standards, development processes, and engineering best practices. Take full ownership of features from concept through delivery, translating functional and commercial requirements into robust software designs.

Hands-On Development: Actively contribute to coding, core architecture, and critical feature development. Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure performance, security, and scalability standards are met. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges in both development and production environments.

Collaboration & Delivery: Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, and QA teams to ensure timely and high-quality feature releases. Mentor and coach team members to foster continuous learning and professional growth. Participate actively in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.

Cloud & DevOps Champion: Utilize Microsoft Azure for application hosting, storage, APIs, serverless functions, and monitoring. Promote DevOps best practices including CI/CD automation, automated testing, and smooth cloud deployments.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead role.
- Strong British accent with excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.js or Angular.
- Extensive hands-on backend experience with Object-Oriented Programming in Java, C# (.NET / ASP.NET Core), or Python (Django, FastAPI, Flask).
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), including platform services, Git, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, microservices, and design patterns.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates, is highly desirable. Familiarity with identity and security best practices including OAuth, JWT, and Azure AD is a plus. Exposure to data engineering or machine learning pipelines will be advantageous.

Candidates with experience delivering software in regulated environments such as healthcare or medical device software, including knowledge of FDA design controls, Quality Management Systems (QMS), or requirements traceability, will stand out. Strong soft skills such as proactive ownership, constructive communication, and a mentorship mindset to elevate team capabilities are essential.
