Software Quality Assurance Engineer

OneScreen Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to join our team in Islamabad, Pakistan. The ideal candidate will have over one year of experience in software quality assurance, with a strong foundation in manual testing methodologies and a working knowledge of test automation using Playwright. This role involves close collaboration with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of reliable and high-quality software products that meet functional requirements and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manual Testing:
- Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories to design effective test cases.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test scenarios covering functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and exploratory testing.
- Identify, document, track, and verify software defects using Jira or similar tools.
- Conduct cross-browser, cross-platform, and UI/UX testing to ensure consistent user experience.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and daily stand-ups to align testing efforts with development progress.

Automation Testing:
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright to cover critical user flows and repetitive regression scenarios.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze results, and troubleshoot any automation failures.
- Collaborate with developers to enhance testability and expand automation coverage.
- Apply basic programming concepts and understand automation frameworks to improve testing efficiency.

API and Additional Testing:
- Perform API testing using Postman or equivalent tools, validating responses, status codes, request parameters, and data integrity.
- Conduct basic database validation using SQL queries.
- Assist with basic performance and usability testing as required to ensure overall product quality.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and various testing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with manual testing techniques and test case design methods such as Boundary Value Analysis and Equivalence Partitioning.
- Working knowledge of Playwright for test automation and basic understanding of JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience with defect tracking tools like Jira.
- Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman.
- Understanding of Agile and Scrum development methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with Git and version control systems.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and database testing.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Understanding of cross-browser testing techniques.
- Exposure to performance testing tools like JMeter is advantageous.
