Software Quality Engineer (AI-Augmented Testing & Critical Analysis)

We are seeking a Software Quality Engineer who goes beyond traditional testing by challenging assumptions, identifying hidden risks, and leveraging AI to enhance software quality. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking, technical expertise, and independent judgment to ensure robust and reliable software delivery. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Karachi, Pakistan, suitable for professionals with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to uncover gaps, ambiguities, contradictions, edge cases, and potential business risks.
- Conduct various testing types including functional, exploratory, regression, integration, end-to-end, API, and performance testing.
- Utilize AI tools to generate test scenarios, test data, scripts, log summaries, and perform root-cause analysis, while actively identifying and mitigating AI hallucinations and weak outputs.
- Investigate defects using browser developer tools, application logs, API responses, database records, and monitoring tools to diagnose issues effectively.
- Test REST APIs thoroughly, validating SQL data integrity, authorization, error handling, and cross-service transaction flows.
- Perform load and performance testing using JMeter and Locust to ensure system reliability under stress.
- Develop and maintain automated tests, validate bug fixes, assess regression risks, and continuously refine testing processes for improved quality and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in software testing with a strong focus on quality assurance practices.
- Excellent analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with expertise in risk-based testing and boundary value analysis.
- Proficiency with tools such as Postman, SQL, Jira, browser developer tools, and API testing frameworks.
- Strong command of written and verbal English, capable of detailed requirement analysis and professional defect reporting.
- Ability to challenge assumptions, identify contradictions, and make decisions based on evidence and data.
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and independent thinking in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot is highly desirable to augment testing capabilities. Familiarity with Selenium, Python, JavaScript, PyCharm, Visual Studio, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, distributed systems, and enterprise or SaaS application testing will be advantageous.
