Software Quality Engineer (SQE)

Codefied is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Software Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our Quality Assurance and Software Engineering team. This full-time, on-site role is based in Karachi, Pakistan, at Block 13 Gulistan-e-Johar. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our software products through manual and automated testing, API validation, and comprehensive quality assurance practices. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify defects, enhance testing processes, and ensure software releases meet high-quality standards. A strong understanding of software testing methodologies and hands-on experience with automation tools are essential, along with a passion for delivering user-friendly and reliable software.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for both web and mobile applications.
- Perform various testing types including functional, regression, integration, smoke, and exploratory testing.
- Develop and maintain detailed test cases, test plans, test scenarios, and related documentation.
- Conduct API testing using Postman and REST APIs to verify functionality, data integrity, and system integration.
- Utilize automation testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Identify, document, track, and report software defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
- Collaborate with developers to investigate issues, verify fixes, and prevent recurring defects.
- Execute cross-browser and cross-platform testing to ensure consistent application behavior.
- Participate in requirements analysis and provide feedback on testability, potential risks, and quality improvements.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
- Monitor test execution results, investigate failures, and maintain reliable automated test suites.
- Conduct regression testing prior to software releases to ensure stability of existing functionality.
- Maintain clear documentation of testing activities, defects, and quality metrics.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, test coverage, and software delivery standards.

Required Qualifications

- Strong understanding of software testing principles and Quality Assurance methodologies.
- Practical experience in manual testing and test case design.
- Hands-on experience with at least one test automation tool such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Working knowledge of API testing using Postman and REST APIs.
- Familiarity with functional, regression, integration, and smoke testing techniques.
- Ability to write clear, structured test cases and detailed bug reports.
- Experience with defect tracking systems and software development workflows.
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD concepts and automated testing workflows.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
