Software Test Engineer / Software Quality Assurance Engineer

As a Software Test Engineer/Software Quality Assurance Engineer at PakWheels, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our digital products. Collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, you will translate requirements into comprehensive test plans, develop automated test suites, and validate AI-driven features. Your efforts will support smooth and high-quality product releases, contributing to PakWheels’ mission of transforming the automobile industry in Pakistan.

Key Responsibilities:
- Write, update, and maintain automated test scripts for Web, Mobile, and API platforms.
- Develop and execute a variety of tests including functional, regression, integration, smoke, negative, and edge-case scenarios.
- Utilize AI-assisted testing tools to enhance functional testing, generate test scenarios, improve coverage, and analyze failures.
- Define acceptance criteria and validate features against both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Test AI-developed features for accuracy, relevance, consistency, hallucinations, bias, and fallback behavior.
- Collaborate with Product and Development teams to investigate, document, and resolve defects.
- Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines to streamline release processes.
- Conduct cross-browser, cross-device, performance, and basic security testing.
- Monitor logs, analytics, crash reports, and test results to identify potential quality risks.
- Maintain detailed test cases, test data, execution reports, and defect metrics.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes.

Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Software Test Engineer, QA Engineer, or Automation Engineer.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of software testing concepts, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and Scrum framework.
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming (OOP), data structures, and programming fundamentals.
- Expertise in Black Box testing with basic knowledge of White Box testing techniques.
- Experience with automation tools like Appium, Cypress, Selenium, or Playwright.
- Skilled in API testing using Postman and automation tools such as REST Assured, Newman, or Python Requests.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks, Page Object Model, and reusable test design patterns.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and Git version control.
- Experience with JIRA and test management tools for defect tracking and reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI is a plus.
- Background in Web and Mobile UI testing.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6 is advantageous.
- Experience using monitoring tools like Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics.
- Understanding of generative AI, prompt testing, and AI response validation enhances your fit for this role.
