Solution Architect

The Solution Architect role involves providing hands-on architectural leadership, guidance, and mentoring to architecture and engineering teams. This position requires close collaboration across functions to ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will be a thought leader with practical business insight and a strong technical background in scalable web applications, microservices architecture, backend RESTful APIs, and various database technologies including SQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis. The Solution Architect will lead development teams in solving complex problems and resolving technical disagreements with well-informed solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
- Build early prototypes of product components to validate technical design and performance.
- Understand long-term business objectives and recommend technical strategies that introduce innovation through technology.
- Adapt product architecture responsively as customer requirements, market conditions, and technologies evolve.
- Collaborate with stakeholders inside and outside the engineering organization to gather requirements and formulate appropriate system architecture.
- Translate software architecture into detailed design alongside the development team.
- Actively participate in the development process when necessary.
- Work closely with product management, quality assurance, and DevOps teams to ensure alignment.
- Align IT needs with the strategic direction of the enterprise.
- Implement standards, reference architectures, and technology selection processes.
- Analyze gaps in current technology architecture and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Define technology architecture principles to guide the overall architecture.
- Research and stay updated on current and emerging technology services, industry standards, and architecture viewpoints.
- Select and utilize tools and repositories to manage architecture information and artifacts effectively.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on software development experience, including application design and delivery of medium to large-scale projects.
- At least 5 years of experience in an architect role within large-scale software development projects.
- Proficient in scalable software design and architecture principles.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and processes.
- Experience designing solutions based on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, with working knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with version control systems and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and DevOps fundamentals.
- Thorough knowledge of relational database design, particularly SQL Server, and good understanding of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Demonstrated experience designing architectures using Redis, Elasticsearch, and Amazon SQS.
