Specialist (Data Management Unit)

Key Responsibilities

The Specialist will play a critical role in managing and supporting data generated from climate monitoring and medical devices, including ultrasound machines. Responsibilities include extracting and managing data, troubleshooting technical issues reported by field sites, and maintaining quality control checks across all locations. The incumbent will collaborate closely with research teams and managers to ensure smooth data collection processes and address any challenges that may affect data quality or project integrity.

Additional duties involve identifying and documenting potential data quality issues through regular reviews and descriptive statistical analyses. The Specialist will oversee data quality assurance, ensuring the integrity of research project data. Support will be provided to data management and research staff throughout the data management lifecycle, including reviewing database structures and project conventions. Furthermore, the role involves training field data collection teams and frequently traveling to field sites outside Karachi to resolve device-related issues. Strong teamwork and communication with multidisciplinary teams are essential.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science. A minimum of three to five years of relevant work experience is required, preferably with a focus on data management related to climate monitoring and medical devices. Proficiency in SQL query language and familiarity with data management tools will be considered advantageous. The role demands excellent computer skills, strong analytical and qualitative abilities, and effective written and interpersonal communication skills.

Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of hardware applications and be willing to travel regularly to field sites for troubleshooting purposes. Being an excellent team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments is essential.
