The Aga Khan University is seeking a Specialist in Service Delivery (Systems) to join its team in Karachi. This role involves supporting, designing, and implementing IT solutions across Microsoft Windows, VMware, and Linux environments. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the performance and security of the university’s IT infrastructure, ensuring continuous availability and expert support for various systems including Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, and hospital-specific applications such as Patient Care and PeopleSoft.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and troubleshoot IT system operations to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide 24/7 expert-level support for Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Patient Care systems, PeopleSoft, and Web Servers.
- Lead initiatives to enhance server security against malicious software and activities.
- Administer and maintain Active Directory roles, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and RDS Servers.
- Identify and mitigate security risks by deploying regular patches and maintaining antivirus solutions across servers and user PCs.
- Analyze gaps in existing IT operations and develop innovative solutions to improve system efficiency.
- Present new ideas and solutions to management to standardize IT services across the hospital and its users.
- Administer cloud environments hosted on Microsoft Azure.
- Utilize PowerShell and other scripting languages for automation and system management.
- Deploy software updates through SCCM and review work plans and deliverables of fellow engineers to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Mentor systems engineers within and across teams, supporting customer interaction and facilitation.
- Proactively monitor server health using tools such as SCOM and IP Monitor.
- Provide on-call technical support to staff across multiple regions including East Africa, London, and Afghanistan.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows OS-related issues to maintain maximum uptime of business services.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Microsoft and VMware certifications are preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure and systems management.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows, Linux, Active Directory, Failover Clusters, SCCM, SCOM, SCVMM, and VMware.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, RDS Servers, PowerShell, and scripting languages.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic business environment.
- Technical, managerial, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with network equipment such as routers, switches, IP phones, modems, and cables.
- Proficient in current desktop applications and IT tools.
This position is based in Karachi, Pakistan, within the Aga Khan Hospital & Medical College.
