A Speech Therapist position is available in the Maldives, responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with speech, language, communication, voice, and swallowing disorders. The role involves creating personalized treatment plans, delivering therapeutic interventions, tracking patient progress, and working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough assessments of patients experiencing difficulties with speech, language, communication, voice, and swallowing.
- Utilize appropriate clinical tools and techniques to evaluate communication and swallowing abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to assessment outcomes, clinical needs, and patient goals.
- Deliver evidence-based therapy for speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders.
- Manage a variety of conditions, including articulation and phonological disorders, language delays, fluency disorders, voice disorders, cognitive-communication challenges, and dysphagia.
- Monitor patient progress regularly and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families or caregivers on therapeutic strategies to support improvement outside of therapy sessions.
- Recommend communication aids, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and other supportive interventions when appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and educators.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation, including assessment reports, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and contribute to comprehensive patient care planning.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to healthcare regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
- Stay informed about current clinical practices, research developments, assessment tools, and therapeutic techniques in speech and language pathology.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, training sessions, and ongoing professional development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or department managers.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Speech and Language Therapy, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Valid professional license or registration to practice as a Speech Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Previous clinical experience in settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics, or schools is preferred.
- Experience working with pediatric and/or adult patients, depending on facility requirements.
