SQA Engineer

XAutonomous is looking for a skilled Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of our web, mobile, API, and enterprise software applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on testing experience, a solid understanding of software development and testing lifecycles, and the ability to independently design and execute test cases. This role involves identifying defects, validating APIs, and contributing to test automation efforts to support high-quality software releases.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business and technical requirements to develop effective test scenarios and test cases.
- Create, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and checklists.
- Perform various types of testing including functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, usability, and exploratory testing.
- Test web and mobile applications across multiple browsers, devices, operating systems, and screen sizes.
- Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or equivalent REST clients.
- Validate API requests, responses, authentication, status codes, error handling, and business rules.
- Perform database validation and data integrity testing using SQL queries.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
- Verify resolved defects and conduct regression testing to ensure existing functionality remains intact.
- Collaborate closely with developers, designers, business analysts, and product teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and release activities.
- Develop and maintain automated test cases using frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
- Contribute to improving regression coverage and overall QA processes.
- Maintain testing documentation and provide clear status and release-quality reports.
- Assist junior QA engineers and promote consistent testing practices within the team.

Required Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Testing.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and defect management processes.
- Hands-on experience with manual testing of web and/or mobile applications.
- Solid knowledge of functional, regression, integration, smoke, and exploratory testing techniques.
- Experience creating test scenarios, test cases, and defect reports.
- Proficiency in API testing using Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar tools.
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, JSON, and authentication mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of SQL for database validation.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
- Experience with project and defect tracking systems like Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Basic understanding of browser developer tools and debugging techniques.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently manage assigned testing activities and meet release deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with automated regression testing.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
- Experience testing Android and iOS applications.
- Basic knowledge of performance and security testing.
- Familiarity with cloud-based applications and modern web architectures.
- ISTQB or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- Full-time onsite position located in Bahria Town Karachi.
- Transportation is provided from multiple key locations including FB Area, Water Pump, Ayesha Manzil, North Nazimabad, Five Star, Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi, Nagan Chowrangi, UP Moor, Power House, Scheme 33, University Road, Model Colony, Malir Halt, CP-5/CP-6, and M9 Motorway.

Candidates should be prepared to rate their SQL skills and provide detailed address information including sector or block and the nearest landmark during the application process. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of SQA experience and is strictly onsite.
