SQA Engineer

Innovation Insight, a PSEB-registered IT services company based in Lahore, specializes in software development, AI integration, and platform engineering for international clients in fintech, edtech, and ecommerce sectors. We maintain high engineering standards with zero tolerance for bugs in production. We are seeking a skilled SQA Engineer with 2-4 years of experience to take ownership of quality across our client-facing products. This role involves working closely with engineering leads on complex systems such as payment platforms, transactional email pipelines, and e-learning applications. The position demands proactive testing, challenging builds, and raising quality standards beyond routine checks.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test suites for web and API applications across fintech, edtech, and ecommerce domains.
- Conduct functional, regression, integration, smoke, and exploratory testing on complex multi-module systems.
- Thoroughly test payment gateway integrations, including Stripe Connect flows, webhooks, payout logic, dispute handling, and billing cycle edge cases.
- Validate transactional email systems by verifying trigger accuracy, template rendering, delivery tracking, bounce handling, and spam compliance.
- Perform API testing using tools like Postman, validating request/response contracts, authentication flows, and error handling.
- Develop and maintain basic automation scripts for repetitive regression scenarios using frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps using project management tools like Jira or ClickUp.
- Participate actively in sprint planning and daily stand-ups, providing accurate QA effort estimates for new features.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure timely bug fixes and re-verification.
- Maintain up-to-date test documentation and adapt test cases as product requirements evolve.
- Proactively flag systemic quality risks rather than only reporting bugs post-release.

Required Qualifications

Experience
- 2-4 years of professional SQA experience with production-grade applications.
- Proven expertise testing fintech, edtech, or ecommerce platforms, with experience in at least two of these domains.
- Hands-on experience testing Stripe or equivalent payment gateway integrations, including charges, refunds, webhooks, disputes, and Connect flows.
- Experience testing transactional email systems such as SendGrid, Mailgun, or SES, focusing on deliverability, template logic, and failure scenarios.
- Strong background in API testing, particularly REST APIs with JWT/OAuth authentication, complex payloads, and integration chains.

Technical Skills
- Proficiency in manual testing methodologies including black-box, gray-box, boundary value analysis, and equivalence partitioning.
- Experience with at least one automation testing framework like Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.
- Comfortable using browser DevTools, network inspection, and log analysis for debugging purposes.
- Basic SQL knowledge for data validation in test scenarios.
- Familiarity with Git for version control of test code.

Process & Communication
- Ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports with detailed steps, screenshots, and logs.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, as the role involves interaction with international clients.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Project management experience or exposure to coordinating QA timelines across multiple projects.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and running automated test suites within build workflows.
- ISTQB Foundation certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Experience testing mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms.
- Knowledge of performance or load testing tools such as k6 or JMeter.

This is an onsite position based in Lahore. We expect candidates to take full ownership of quality on their projects, acting as the final line of defense before features are released to clients. Accountability for critical bugs reaching production is shared, emphasizing the importance of thorough testing.
