We are seeking a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer with strong Kubernetes expertise to join our team in Islamabad. This role involves designing, building, and deploying complex cloud environments using innovative automation tools and advanced technologies. You will play a key role in maintaining and evolving AWS cloud architecture while supporting infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and automation development. The position operates during 8 AM to 5 PM Central Time (US) and offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team focused on cloud modernization, migration, and innovation at Cloudelligent, an AWS Premier Consulting Partner.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of DevOps engineers to architect and deploy AWS cloud infrastructure that is redundant, resilient, scalable, self-sustaining, and self-healing.
- Advocate for infrastructure as code and automation, utilizing tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, CircleCI, GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Design, build, and manage Kubernetes infrastructure, including clusters, namespaces, and deployments.
- Engage directly with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates on new features, and manage project deliverables independently.
- Develop and enhance operational practices and procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and maintain secure operational infrastructure.
- Mentor and train junior DevOps engineers and new team members to foster skill development and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in DevOps engineering.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Strong experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS or ECS) and tools such as Rancher.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools including Puppet or Ansible.
- Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and Docker-Compose.
- Competence in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, or JavaScript.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a project team.
Technical Expertise
- Deep hands-on experience architecting solutions within the AWS cloud environment.
- Proven ability to design, develop, and manage CI/CD pipelines and workflows.
- Strong understanding of core DevOps principles including CI/CD, Agile methodologies, and automation.
- Extensive experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters in production settings.
- Expertise in containerization, including creating Docker images, managing registries, and configuring runtime environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
- Solid knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and firewall configurations.
- Experience designing secure infrastructure adhering to cloud-native security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) and/or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification is highly desirable.
