Sr. Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical MEP Design Engineer with extensive experience in designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, high-rise residential, and other building projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and practical expertise in electrical building system design, ensuring compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards. This role demands proficiency in developing detailed electrical layouts, power distribution systems, lighting designs, and low-voltage systems, while coordinating closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate and constructible designs.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop electrical building systems in line with project specifications and applicable codes.
- Create electrical power distribution systems, including single-line diagrams, distribution boards, panel schedules, and circuit layouts.
- Prepare lighting layouts and designs, perform lighting calculations, and coordinate with architectural plans.
- Design emergency and standby power systems where required.
- Develop and coordinate fire alarm, communication, and other low-voltage systems.
- Prepare detailed electrical schematics, riser diagrams, circuit layouts, and panel schedules.
- Conduct electrical load calculations covering lighting and power demands.
- Interpret and analyze architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings.
- Utilize AutoCAD and electrical/MEP design software to produce precise project documentation.
- Review designs and drawings to ensure accuracy, quality, constructability, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Coordinate electrical designs with Mechanical, Plumbing, Architectural, Structural, and other disciplines.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to guidelines and standards provided by clients or foreign design teams.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising detail or accuracy.
- Identify and resolve design and coordination challenges collaboratively with the project team.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an HEC-recognized university.
- 6 to 10+ years of relevant experience in Electrical MEP Design, preferably involving commercial, institutional, or high-rise residential projects.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical MEP building design principles and practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit MEP is advantageous.
- Experience with lighting design software such as DIALux, Relux, or Visual.
- Solid understanding of electrical design standards, codes, and specifications.
- Ability to prepare and review single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel schedules, lighting layouts, and electrical calculations.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and design documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
- Demonstrated aptitude and interest in engineering design software and technology.
