Staff Software Engineer - Backend - 7+ years

The engineering team at Outreach is focused on building a resilient, internet-scale microservice platform that supports high-velocity development, real-time analytics, and intelligent automation. This team is responsible for critical backend services that power opportunity management and forecasting, working closely with cross-functional partners to drive innovation and leverage AI/ML technologies for global customer impact.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of distributed, cloud-native applications that handle high concurrency and real-time data processing.
- Develop strategies and implement scalable data pipelines, streaming analytics, and integrate machine learning workflows.
- Collaborate with data science, product, and engineering teams to deliver complex, intelligent product features.
- Establish and promote engineering standards focused on code quality, security, and operational excellence while fostering automation and continuous improvement.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and proactively mitigate reliability risks.
- Mentor team members, conduct code and architecture reviews, and cultivate a culture of rapid learning.
- Decompose legacy systems into service-oriented or microservice architectures, address technical debt, and evolve systems for scalability.
- Take full ownership of major initiatives from planning through execution and impact assessment.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of strong backend development experience.
- Proven expertise in designing and operating large-scale distributed systems with cloud-based service-oriented architectures.
- Demonstrated leadership in fast-paced environments, setting technical standards, and motivating teams to exceed delivery goals.
- Proficiency in backend programming languages, with Go as a requirement; experience in Python, Java, or Ruby is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with distributed data platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience building APIs, data analytics infrastructure, and deploying machine learning algorithms in production environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
