Staff Writer

Octus is seeking a Staff Writer based in Pakistan to join its APAC Core Credit team, which includes experienced journalists, financial analysts, and lawyers across the Asia-Pacific region. The role focuses on producing timely, accurate, and clear news articles derived from press releases and company announcements, with a strong emphasis on business and financial news.

Key Responsibilities
- Write breaking news stories based on company announcements and third-party content.
- Aggregate and analyze third-party content using sound editorial judgment, incorporating insights from Octus’s extensive databases.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of journalists, financial analysts, and legal experts.
- Adhere to Octus’s editorial standards, workflows, and processes efficiently and promptly.
- Monitor news articles, press releases, and other relevant sources to identify key and topical developments.
- Work flexible shifts, including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends, to ensure continuous news coverage.
- Prepare weekend announcements ahead of the new week.
- Provide regional crossover support as needed to maintain 24/7 news coverage.

Required Qualifications
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Proven writing ability with strong time management and interpersonal communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong news judgment, with experience or a keen interest in financial news and markets.
- Adaptability and willingness to embrace evolving content objectives.
- Preferably based in Islamabad to facilitate collaboration with the APAC team.
