We are currently looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer with strong expertise in real-time media streaming, low-latency communication, and distributed backend systems using C++ or Golang. This role focuses on designing and building backend microservices that power real-time audio/video communication, streaming pipelines, and low-latency data flows across distributed systems. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with streaming protocols, real-time communication frameworks, and high-performance backend engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Go or C++.
- Build and optimize real-time microservices that support low-latency communication within a distributed architecture.
- Develop and enhance WebSocket, REST, and real-time APIs utilized by client-facing applications.
- Work extensively with media streaming technologies, including RTP, SRTP, WebRTC, and related protocols.
- Implement and optimize WebRTC Selective Forwarding Units (SFUs) for scalable audio/video streaming.
- Integrate and optimize media workflows using tools and libraries such as FFmpeg and GStreamer.
- Manage databases including MySQL, Redis, and MongoDB, designing efficient data models tailored for real-time workloads.
- Ensure backend services adhere to high standards of security, reliability, and performance by applying modern DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Collaborate closely with Frontend, DevOps, and Product teams to deliver end-to-end features.
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following best engineering practices.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks and optimize backend systems for scalability and speed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on backend development experience using Go and/or C++.
- Strong expertise in real-time media streaming, including proficiency with one or more of the following: RTP, SRTP, WebRTC (mandatory), and WebRTC SFU implementation.
- Deep understanding of video and audio processing, with practical experience using FFmpeg, GStreamer, or similar frameworks.
- Solid grasp of networking concepts such as TCP, UDP, ICE, STUN/TURN, and WebSockets.
- Strong knowledge of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and performance tuning.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful and WebSocket APIs.
- Hands-on experience with message queue systems like Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work on low-latency, high-throughput systems.
- Proficiency in C++ or Go specifically for media streaming applications.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with real-time communication platforms is a significant advantage.
This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge real-time communication technologies within a collaborative, innovative environment. Candidates passionate about building scalable, high-performance backend systems that power the future of digital communication are encouraged to apply.
