We are seeking a highly qualified Chief Engineer with a Certificate of Competency Class 1 (Motor) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year’s experience as a Chief Engineer on foreign-going vessels within the last seven years, specifically on General Cargo, Container, or Tanker ships. This role requires a seasoned professional capable of managing engineering operations efficiently while ensuring compliance with international maritime standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all engineering department operations on board, ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of all machinery and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies related to vessel engineering.
- Lead and supervise the engineering team, providing guidance and training as necessary to maintain high performance standards.
- Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of the ship’s engine and auxiliary systems to prevent breakdowns and ensure operational readiness.
- Monitor fuel consumption and optimize engine performance to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Prepare and maintain accurate engineering logs, reports, and documentation as required by maritime authorities and company standards.
- Coordinate with the ship’s master and other departments to ensure smooth vessel operations and timely problem resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate of Competency Class 1 (Motor) is mandatory.
- Minimum of one year sailing experience as Chief Engineer on foreign-going General Cargo, Container, or Tanker vessels within the last seven years.
- At least seven years of overall maritime experience.
- Age not exceeding 57 years at the time of application.
