Supply Chain Manager

Autocare Experts is looking for a skilled and motivated Local Purchaser to join their heavy steel fabrication plant in Lahore, specializing in oil tankers, bowsers, and flatbed trailers. The successful candidate will oversee the entire local procurement process, sourcing high-quality raw materials, structural steel, automotive undercarriage parts, workshop consumables, and heavy-duty tools essential for manufacturing. This role demands a strong technical understanding of heavy transport manufacturing inputs, a well-established local vendor network, and excellent negotiation skills to ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality or safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Local Sourcing & Material Procurement:
- Source and purchase raw materials such as structural steel profiles, plates, welding consumables, industrial gases, and fabrication workshop tools locally.
- Procure specialized automotive and undercarriage components including heavy-duty axles, leaf springs, brake chambers, landing gear, kingpins, rims, tyres, and pneumatic/hydraulic fittings.
- Ensure all materials and components meet engineering specifications, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards, including OGRA requirements for petroleum transport equipment.

Vendor & Supplier Management:
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with local steel mills, wholesale dealers, hardware stockists, and automotive parts suppliers.
- Conduct ongoing market research to identify alternative suppliers, negotiate competitive pricing, favorable credit terms, and establish reliable bulk supply schedules.
- Monitor vendor performance concerning delivery timeliness, quality consistency, and after-sales support.

Price Negotiation & Cost Control:
- Perform regular market surveys and price comparisons to reduce procurement costs and improve cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate pricing structures, contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize company cash flow.

Inventory Coordination & Production Support:
- Collaborate closely with the Workshop Manager, production supervisors, and inventory teams to monitor stock levels of fast-moving items, raw materials, and spare parts.
- Anticipate material requirements proactively to prevent stockouts and avoid delays in the fabrication process.

Documentation & Financial Reconciliation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, delivery challans, tax invoices, and goods received notes.
- Manage petty cash reconciliations, coordinate vendor ledger statements, and work with the finance department to ensure timely vendor payments.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 2 to 4 years of proven experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within heavy engineering, steel fabrication, or commercial automotive manufacturing environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of structural steel, fabrication workshop consumables, and heavy commercial vehicle or trailer undercarriage components such as axles, suspension, and braking systems.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, vendor management, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, and familiarity with inventory or ERP tracking systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related technical field.

Compensation and Work Environment

The position offers a monthly salary ranging from Rs45,000 to Rs60,000. This is an on-site role based in Lahore, requiring in-person attendance to effectively coordinate procurement and production activities.
