We are seeking a skilled System Administrator to join our team in Lahore on a full-time, permanent basis. This role involves providing remote technical support primarily to our UK-based clients, working from our Lahore office. You will be responsible for managing the entire support lifecycle, from initial contact to resolution, handling complex technical issues independently. Strong communication skills in English are essential, as you will interact directly with UK users. The position reports to the CEO, who will offer strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first- to third-line remote support to both internal staff and clients, ensuring thorough issue resolution.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, and on-premises Active Directory environments.
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server infrastructure, including Hyper-V, Remote Desktop Services, FSLogix profile containers, and Windows file servers.
- Manage Windows device lifecycle via Microsoft Intune, covering enrollment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application deployment.
- Monitor, patch, and maintain client endpoints through the RMM platform.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot pfSense/OPNsense firewalls, Ubiquiti/UniFi networks, switches, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, and DHCP.
- Oversee endpoint security tools such as EDR and antivirus, responding promptly to security alerts.
- Manage backup and disaster recovery processes, including Microsoft 365 and endpoint backups, with regular restore testing.
- Record, prioritize, and manage all tasks within the PSA/ticketing system according to SLAs.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks, and client network records.
- Communicate professionally with UK users via phone and email.
- Provide support for Linux servers and hosted web applications when required.
- Identify and automate repetitive tasks using scripting and RMM automation tools.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent spoken and written English, with confidence in direct communication with UK clients.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT support or systems administration, preferably within an MSP environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems, including Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022/2025.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune.
- Proficient in Hyper-V virtual machine management and virtual switching.
- Experience supporting Remote Desktop Services and Windows file servers, including SMB shares and NTFS permissions.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, IPv4 subnetting, routing, NAT, port forwarding, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, trunking, Wi-Fi, VPNs (site-to-site and remote access), and related services such as SMB, LDAP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, certificates, SMTP, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
- Practical experience configuring and managing pfSense and/or OPNsense firewalls.
- Experience deploying and managing Ubiquiti/UniFi networks.
- Working knowledge of RMM platforms.
- Scripting skills in PowerShell for automation of routine tasks.
- Basic to intermediate Linux/Unix skills for firewall management and Debian/Ubuntu server support, including command-line usage, package management, services, logs, and permissions.
- Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Preferred skills include experience with FSLogix profile containers, Hyper-V replication and checkpoint management, WireGuard and OpenVPN configuration, Kerberos troubleshooting, SNMP monitoring, Bash scripting, advanced Linux administration, and support for Nginx, PHP, and MySQL/PostgreSQL environments. Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, EDR solutions, backup and disaster recovery systems, and PSA/ticketing platforms is advantageous. Relevant certifications such as MD-102, MS-102, CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ are desirable.
The salary range for this position is PKR 140,000 to 240,000 per month, depending on experience.
