We are seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer with solid experience in managing Linux environments and virtual infrastructure using VMware. Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems including RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
- Monitor system health and resolve issues related to operating systems, virtualization, and basic networking.
- Apply updates, security patches, and conduct scheduled maintenance to ensure system stability.
- Maintain and test backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity.
- Implement security best practices across Linux and virtual infrastructure environments.
- Automate routine tasks using Bash scripting and command-line tools.
- Document procedures, configurations, and system standards clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with IT teams on performance tuning, capacity planning, and providing support as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with VMware vSphere, including ESXi and vCenter.
- Strong Linux system administration skills across multiple distributions.
- Familiarity with storage systems such as SAN and NAS, and backup solutions like Veeam.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) for automation purposes.
- Basic understanding of virtualization networking concepts and high availability configurations.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn cloud platforms and actively participate in migration projects.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure platforms such as OpenStack, CloudStack, or similar IaaS technologies.
- Experience with additional scripting languages or automation tools like Ansible or Python.
- Relevant certifications such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) or VCP (VMware Certified Professional).
- Awareness of Windows Server administration is considered an advantage.
