System Engineer

This opportunity is for a Systems Engineer specializing in Linux and virtualization, based in Karachi, Pakistan. The role is designed for a mid-level professional with hands-on experience managing Linux environments and VMware virtual infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems including RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
- Monitor system health and resolve issues related to operating systems, virtualization, and basic networking.
- Apply updates, security patches, and conduct scheduled maintenance to ensure system stability.
- Maintain and test system backups and recovery procedures to guarantee data integrity.
- Implement security best practices across Linux servers and virtual infrastructure.
- Automate routine tasks using Bash scripting and command-line interface tools.
- Document procedures, configurations, and system standards for reference and compliance.
- Collaborate with IT teams on performance tuning, capacity planning, and providing technical support.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with VMware vSphere, including ESXi and vCenter.
- Strong Linux system administration skills across distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
- Familiarity with storage technologies including SAN and NAS, as well as backup solutions like Veeam.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) for automation purposes.
- Basic understanding of virtualization networking concepts and high availability configurations.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn cloud platforms and actively participate in migration projects.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure platforms such as OpenStack, CloudStack, or similar IaaS solutions.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools including Bash, Ansible, or Python.
- Relevant certifications such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) or VCP (VMware Certified Professional).
- Awareness of Windows Server administration is an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting skills combined with meticulous documentation practices.
