JBS AI, the artificial intelligence and custom software division of JBS, specializes in developing enterprise computer vision, automation, and AI agent solutions for clients across multiple regions. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to oversee the delivery of our AI project portfolio. This role involves managing projects from signed scope through to successful, on-time delivery and client acceptance. The Technical Lead will serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, providing delivery updates and managing expectations. Reporting above the development team, this position is responsible for making architecture decisions, setting coding and quality standards, and mentoring engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Ownership:
- Manage end-to-end delivery of AI projects, ensuring all milestones from signed scope to client acceptance are met.
- Monitor project timelines closely and proactively identify and escalate risks to avoid delays.
Technical Leadership:
- Make critical architectural decisions across all active projects.
- Establish and enforce coding and quality standards to maintain high technical excellence.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering their growth and development.
- Maintain hands-on involvement to directly intervene in projects facing delivery challenges.
Pre-Sales Feasibility:
- Review project scopes for all proposals before client submission.
- Approve effort estimates and delivery timelines to ensure feasibility and alignment with business goals.
Client Relationship Management:
- Conduct regular delivery updates and manage technical expectations with client stakeholders.
- Escalate matters related to pricing, commercial terms, and contract renewals to the Business Unit Head.
Resource Management:
- Allocate engineering resources efficiently across ongoing projects.
- Identify and communicate early warnings when incoming deals cannot be staffed adequately.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience delivering at least two enterprise-grade computer vision systems fully into production, involving real deployments and users at scale (proofs-of-concept or research demos do not qualify).
- Prior leadership experience managing an engineering team of approximately four to six members, with verifiable delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and manage the technical relationship with enterprise clients.
Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in production-grade computer vision systems, including edge, NVR, and on-premises deployments.
- Strong understanding of the broader AI and machine learning landscape, including data projects, classical ML, and LLM-based solutions, sufficient to scope, estimate, evaluate, and direct teams without necessarily building every component personally.
- Experience in architecture design and setting technical standards across multiple concurrent projects.
- Proficient in effort estimation and scope assessment under commercial pressures.
- Effective leadership skills, including delegation and mentoring of engineering teams.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills, capable of managing difficult conversations without harming relationships.
- Comfortable working in a lean, agile environment.
This is a full-time, onsite position based in Karachi within the JBS AI business unit. The role demands a proactive leader who can balance technical depth with client engagement and team management to ensure successful project outcomes.
