The Team Lead Operations will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant during their assigned shift, ensuring all activities comply with the technical limits outlined in the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Gas Supply Agreement (GSA). This role requires strict adherence to operating procedures, OEM guidelines, and all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, work permit guidelines, and high-risk operations policies to safeguard employee health and safety. The position is based in Sahiwal and demands proactive leadership to maintain operational excellence and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the plant safely and efficiently throughout the assigned shift.
- Participate in daily morning meetings to provide input on plant operational requirements.
- Prepare, issue, and cancel work permits as a Senior Authorized Person (SAP).
- Manage isolation and de-isolation activities in accordance with the site’s Permit to Work (PTW) system.
- Keep site leadership informed of any operational or Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) incidents.
- Generate daily operation reports, shift reports, and operational event reports.
- Conduct regular rounds of the power plant to monitor conditions, identify abnormalities, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with ISMO, RCC, and SNGPL for load management and gas supply as per operating procedures and contractual obligations.
- Maintain records of all correspondence with the Gas Seller and Power Purchaser in line with O&M agreements, PPA, and GSA.
- Ensure compliance with instructions issued by ISMO through coordination with SDXP.
- Lead emergency response efforts by coordinating teams, making timely decisions, and fostering effective teamwork.
- Acquire and apply knowledge of EHS, Quality, and Asset Management System (AMS) policies and procedures.
- Understand and manage EH&S risks, hazards, and environmental impacts related to work activities.
- Train and supervise subordinate staff to ensure operational and safety standards are met.
- Conduct periodic safety drills and lead the emergency response team during incidents.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the assigned plant area and participate in monthly inspections and hazard hunts.
- Complete all EHS-related tasks and training within assigned deadlines, utilizing compliance calendars and action tracking systems.
- Generate service requests in MAXIMO to address plant issues and coordinate resolutions with the maintenance team.
- Fulfill SAP authorization responsibilities as defined in the Safe Work Permit (SWP) and authorization certificate.
- Conduct safety talks, toolbox talks, and safety dialogues to promote a culture of safety.
- Review and conduct EHS risk assessments for routine and non-routine work, implementing necessary controls.
- Ensure compliance with Life Saving Rules (LSR) at the site.
- Participate in planning meetings with maintenance teams to align maintenance activities with the Owner’s Availability Plan and Power Purchaser requirements.
- Recommend plant modifications and improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate Engineer in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems with a PEC-recognized degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within power plant or petrochemical industries.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, P&IDs, and procedure manuals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate site operations and maintenance teams during emergencies.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with ISMO, RCC, SNGPL, and customers regarding daily plant operations.
- Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage shift teams effectively.
