The Aga Khan University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Technologist to join the Microbiology department within its Clinical Laboratory in Karachi, Pakistan. This role involves performing clinical microbiology tests independently while adhering to established standard operating procedures to ensure the accuracy and quality of results. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining high laboratory standards, participate in staff training, and support safety compliance within the laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform clinical microbiology tests independently, following standard operating procedures to guarantee quality and reliability of results.
- Participate actively in staff training sessions and engage in ongoing educational opportunities to enhance professional skills.
- Assist the supervisor in implementing and maintaining laboratory safety standards in accordance with established Laboratory Safety Guidelines.
- Identify and promptly communicate any abnormal patient conditions by notifying supervisory personnel, pathologists, physicians, or nursing staff as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

- A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences is mandatory.
- Completion of a one-year traineeship at the Clinical Laboratory of Aga Khan University or two to three years of relevant experience in a laboratory or hospital setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory testing procedures specific to microbiology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and healthcare professionals.
- Willingness and flexibility to work in shifts as per laboratory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- A Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field is preferred and will be considered an advantage.
- Experience working in a clinical laboratory environment within a hospital setting is highly desirable.
