Technologist/Staff Technologist – Microbiology

We are seeking a skilled Microbiology Technologist to join our laboratory team in Karachi. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in performing a wide range of microbiological tests and procedures, ensuring high-quality results in a fast-paced environment. This full-time position involves working rotational shifts, including mornings, evenings, and nights, and requires a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and advanced microbiological testing such as culture processing, organism identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, serology, parasitology, mycology, and microscopy following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare and handle media, reagents, and stains accurately, while operating microbiology systems and techniques including VITEK 2, API, E-strips, and MIC testing.
- Conduct daily quality control and External Quality Assessment (EQA) activities to ensure the reliability and accuracy of laboratory results. Maintain turnaround times and promptly communicate any abnormal or critical findings to clinicians or consultants.
- Support laboratory audits and compliance activities by adhering to quality standards and maintaining thorough documentation for both internal and external audits.
- Manage inventory and maintain equipment records, perform routine maintenance on analyzers, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate with biomedical or vendor teams as needed to ensure smooth laboratory operations.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (BS-MLT) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience as a Technologist or Staff Technologist specializing in Microbiology.
- Ability to work rotational shifts, including morning, evening, and night schedules.
- Willingness to work on-site at the Karachi laboratory location.
