The Territory Sales Manager role within HDFC Bank’s Branch Banking department involves a dual responsibility of direct sourcing and team management. The incumbent will engage regularly with the bank’s cluster heads and employees, overseeing branches directly mapped to them. They will manage Relationship Managers (RMs) assigned to their team, guiding them to achieve sales targets while ensuring persistency, productivity, and quality recruitment. Maintaining compliance and driving adherence to policies within the zone is a critical part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the bank’s cluster heads, branch staff, and channel partners to facilitate smooth business operations and sales growth.
- Provide continuous guidance and support to bank employees, Tata AIA RMs, and other stakeholders regarding submissions, issuances, and resolution of pending issues.
- Monitor and motivate RMs to meet both individual and team sales targets, ensuring a healthy product mix and persistency in business.
- Manage the relationship between the internal team and channel partners to foster sales and maintain high responsiveness to partner requirements.
- Collaborate regularly with HR to ensure recruitment aligns with planned targets and quality standards.
- Track RM performance and support their career progression by promoting those who meet or exceed targets.
- Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and sales processes, initiating disciplinary action when necessary to maintain compliance within the zone.
- Drive top-line growth by achieving New Business Premium targets, RM activation, and balanced product mix.
- Oversee sales activity management, renewal collections, and maintain high-level relationship mapping with bank staff.
- Own the risk management function by fostering a risk-aware culture, participating in risk measurement, mitigation, and reporting. This includes involvement in contingency planning and business continuity programs, as well as responding to risks raised by employees.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation is mandatory; a management background is preferred.
- A minimum of six years’ experience in banca sales, with at least two years in a leadership or team management role.
- Familiarity with retail sales within the insurance sector is highly desirable.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications.
