Textile Designer (Rugs & Carpets)

We are seeking experienced rug and carpet designers to submit proposals for a contract engagement focused on creating two seasonal collections: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. This opportunity is based in Pakistan and requires designers with a strong background in textile design, particularly in rugs and carpets. The selection process will emphasize the designer’s creative perspective, depth of research, and proposed terms before any formal commitment is made. The successful candidate will develop collections inspired by traditional rug-weaving motifs from Turkey, Iran, and the Caucasus, while also considering the competitive landscape of rug design houses and national home retailers in the US and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop original design concepts for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 rug collections, adhering closely to the provided Design Guidance document.
- Conduct thorough and well-documented research on rug-weaving traditions and motifs from Turkey, Iran, and the Caucasus, ensuring designs are informed by authentic cultural references.
- Analyze the competitive market, including both specialized rug design houses and major home retailers in the US and Europe, to position the collections strategically.
- Submit a comprehensive pitch that outlines the design direction for both collections, supported by a portfolio of previous work and detailed research insights.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure that all design deliverables meet the quality standards and expectations set forth in the contract.

Required Qualifications
- 8 to 12 years of professional experience in rug, carpet, or textile design.
- Demonstrated expertise in the design traditions of Turkish, Persian (Iranian), Caucasian, and other regional textiles.
- Proficiency in CAD software for design development.
- Working knowledge of Galaincha rug design software.
- Ability to conduct in-depth research and translate findings into innovative design concepts.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- While the original brief mentioned an age range, this requirement has been removed to avoid legal and ethical concerns related to age discrimination. The experience requirement effectively addresses the desired level of expertise.
