We are seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to join our growing team based in Islamabad. This full-time role requires working US hours, which means an evening and night schedule locally. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience designing digital products that have successfully shipped. You will play a key role in shaping and leading the design function from the ground up, working on web, mobile, and internal products aimed primarily at US users. Our company is headquartered in the US and partners with venture-backed businesses across North America, so your work will directly impact how users perceive and interact with our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and manage the design function, including how design requests are received, prioritized, reviewed, and delivered to developers.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems covering components, tokens, typography, color, and spacing, ensuring clear documentation for developers and future designers.
- Create and refine a design process from ideation through launch, including research, sketches, prototypes, reviews, handoff, and post-launch evaluation.
- Design product interfaces, websites, landing pages, and customer-facing materials.
- Regularly engage with users to gather feedback through lightweight, ongoing methods rather than infrequent surveys.
- Plan for the future growth of the design team by identifying necessary tools, freelancers, or hires.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience designing web and mobile products used by real users, with at least one project taken from concept to live release.
- Proven ability to establish or significantly improve design processes, libraries, or systems relied upon by others.
- Experience designing both user-facing interfaces and administrative or back-office dashboards.
- Direct collaboration with engineers to ship designs and iterate based on real-world performance.
- Experience designing for US users or products aimed at markets outside Pakistan.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in Figma, including auto layout, components, variants, variables, and clear file organization.
- Solid understanding of UX fundamentals such as user flows, information architecture, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- Expertise in visual design principles including typography, grids, spacing, color, and hierarchy.
- Mobile-first and responsive design experience, familiar with iOS and Android patterns.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA), including contrast, tap targets, and readable type.
- Ability to conduct usability testing and translate findings into actionable design decisions.
- Competency in analyzing data from GA4, heatmaps, and session recordings to identify user pain points.
- Clear and thorough handoff documentation that developers can follow without additional meetings, with a working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- Systems thinking with strong documentation skills to ensure design knowledge is shared.
- Excellent written English for interface copy and communicating design decisions to US stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience prototyping with AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, v0, or Lovable.
- Familiarity with Webflow or Framer.
- Skills in motion design and micro-interactions.
- Background in two-sided marketplaces or data-heavy B2B dashboards.
- Brand design experience including logos, illustrations, and presentations.
You will be evaluated based on a portfolio that highlights your design thinking through two or three case studies, detailing the problem, your approach (including discarded ideas), what shipped, and the impact afterward. Demonstrating experience building a design system or process is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 30 days, you will learn the business and users, audit existing design assets, engage with users, and present a prioritized written plan to leadership. By 60 days, you will deliver the first version of a design system in Figma, establish a working process with engineering, and launch initial improvements. At 90 days, the design system will be fully documented and in use, with design reviews and post-launch checks integrated into releases, alongside a quarterly design roadmap. By six months, your work will drive measurable improvements and create a cohesive, unified customer experience.
This role is not suitable if you prefer an established process with detailed briefs, want to focus solely on visuals or UX, dislike sharing early-stage work, or cannot commit to a night schedule aligned with US hours.
How We Work
We operate with a small, agile team where decisions are made quickly and you’ll work closely with leadership. We prioritize rough drafts and prototypes early and emphasize written rationales for design decisions to ensure clarity and continuity.
What You Get
This is a unique opportunity to build a design function from scratch and leave your mark. Your work will be visible to US customers daily and will be a valuable addition to your portfolio. You will have direct access to leadership and the potential to grow into a design leadership role as the team expands.
