The Accounting Manager – UK role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Karachi, offering flexibility to work partly from home. This role involves managing a portfolio of UK-based SME and self-employed clients, overseeing bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and tax compliance. Key duties include reviewing financial statements, preparing and reviewing UK tax returns, managing deadlines, and ensuring all work complies with UK accounting and tax regulations.

The Accounting Manager will also supervise junior team members by allocating work, providing guidance, and maintaining quality standards across client deliverables. The role requires responding to client queries, advising on tax-efficient structures, and collaborating with leadership to enhance processes and support the firm’s growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring a consistently high standard of service.
- Manage client communications, respond promptly to queries, and oversee client onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Review accounts, corporation tax returns, and Self Assessment tax returns thoroughly before submission.

Team Leadership & Workflow Oversight
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior and senior accounting staff to foster professional development.
- Review team outputs and provide training to uphold technical accuracy and professional standards.
- Oversee capacity planning, job allocation, and workload balancing to optimize team productivity.

Practice Operations & Process Improvement
- Maintain and enhance internal processes, workflows, and systems to maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure all client work is delivered on time, meeting deadlines and internal service level agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, turnaround times, and quality.
- Support the implementation and optimization of accounting software and practice management tools.

Required Qualifications
- ACCA, ACA, or equivalent qualification with strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, corporation tax, and personal tax for SME and self-employed clients.
- Minimum of six years’ experience in a UK accounting practice, including managing staff and overseeing workflows remotely.
- Excellent English communication skills (C1 level or above), essential for direct UK client interaction.
- Proven leadership ability, including mentoring, reviewing work, allocating tasks, and balancing team workloads.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines and competing priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in cloud accounting and practice management software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Iris Elements, and Taxfiler, along with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH).
- Demonstrated success in building client relationships and resolving issues to maintain high service standards.
- Thorough understanding of compliance requirements related to UK GAAP, Companies House, and HMRC.
