URGENT HIRING | ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – AFRICA

Quintava Consulting (Private) Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer for a full-time, 12-month contract position at an industrial mining and mineral processing facility based in Hargeisa, Somaliland, Africa. The role involves overseeing the planning, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure within the facility. The successful candidate will ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient electrical distribution network supporting industrial machinery, generator-based power systems, and associated operational equipment. This position offers an opportunity to work on-site in a dynamic industrial environment with a competitive monthly salary range of PKR 220,000 to 270,000.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise the complete electrical infrastructure, including power distribution from generators to processing facilities, external machinery, and supporting buildings. Prepare electrical layouts, Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, cable routing plans, and technical specifications.
- Conduct electrical load assessments, cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations, and power distribution planning. Design and oversee installation of distribution boards, switchgear, circuit breakers, earthing systems, and protection arrangements for both indoor and outdoor equipment.
- Manage generator-based power systems, including three-phase industrial power distribution, load balancing, electrical protection, and operational safety. Ensure continuous and reliable power supply to processing machinery, control panels, workshops, and accommodation facilities. Identify and troubleshoot electrical faults, supply interruptions, overloads, and potential system failures.
- Supervise electrical installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mineral processing machinery such as crushers, grinders, separators, pumps, conveyors, motors, and related systems. Troubleshoot motor control systems, electrical panels, starters, and machinery connections. Coordinate with mechanical engineers and plant operators to optimize machinery uptime and operational reliability.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective electrical maintenance schedules. Conduct regular inspections, testing, fault diagnosis, and performance assessments. Maintain electrical drawings, maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical documentation. Supervise junior electrical staff and coordinate maintenance activities.
- Enforce electrical safety procedures including isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), use of protective equipment, and compliance with electrical codes, technical standards, and occupational safety requirements.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a recognized equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ practical experience in industrial electrical installation, power distribution, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Proven experience working with generator-powered facilities, industrial electrical networks, and electrical machinery.
- Prior experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, power generation, or heavy industrial environments is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software for preparing and interpreting electrical drawings.
- Strong understanding of Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs), load calculations, electrical schematics, and cable schedules.
- Practical knowledge of low voltage (LV) distribution and relevant medium/high voltage (MV/HV) systems.
- Experience with transformers, generators, switchgear, distribution boards, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), and industrial motor systems.
- Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor starters, protection relays, and industrial control systems.
- Ability to perform electrical testing, insulation resistance checks, earthing verification, and fault diagnosis using appropriate instruments.
- Knowledge of applicable IEC standards and recognized industrial electrical safety practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, for technical reporting and maintenance planning.
- Valid Pakistani passport, clean police character certificate, and medical fitness certificate. Willingness to undergo technical assessment and interview.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
