USA Tax Analyst (Contract)

The USA Tax Analyst will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of the USA tax registration process within the Perseus operating group. Reporting to the USA Payroll Manager in Pakistan, this position involves providing comprehensive tax support related to payroll and sales tax matters. The role is based in Karachi or Lahore and is offered on a one-year contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

USA Payroll Tax:
- Manage regular and quarterly tax filings across multiple states.
- Liaise with tax filing centers and government agencies to resolve inquiries and avoid penalties.
- Handle amendments, notices, and tax submissions for various locations.
- Conduct reviews and audits of tax registrations and accounts.
- Calculate, accrue, and process applicable payroll taxes.
- Participate in company tax audits as required.
- Create and update process documentation to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Facilitate new state registrations and maintain multi-state tax compliance.

USA Sales Tax:
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of transaction tax returns, including sales/use, business & occupation, and gross receipts tax.
- Prepare corporate tax working papers, return-to-provision reconciliations, and provisions.
- Support the financial accounting team on corporate tax matters and tax planning initiatives.
- Respond to correspondence from various state and city tax authorities.
- Provide accounts payable backups and coordinate sales tax payments with the Onshore Tax Team.
- Register transaction tax accounts in applicable jurisdictions.
- Assist with transaction tax audits and resolve sales tax notices, questions, and discrepancies.
- Undertake special assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in USA payroll and sales tax.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the full payroll tax cycle for remarketers, ensuring compliance with tax laws.
- Proven experience managing multi-state tax filings and registrations.
- Familiarity with Payroll Tax Summary (PTS) data entry into MasterTax and variance resolution.
- Experience overseeing payroll and tax onboarding processes.
- Ability to resolve client issues, file amendments, and maintain tax code profiles.
- First-tier IT support experience related to tax systems.
- Skilled in developing customized tax processes tailored to client needs.
- Experience handling ADP tax issues.
- Multi-province and multi-company tax processing experience.
- Knowledge of multi-province EHT and workers’ compensation registrations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Professional and well-organized, capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Workday is an advantage.
- A solid understanding of various provincial employment standards.
