Vmware Administrator

We are seeking a proficient VMware Administrator to oversee and optimize our virtualized infrastructure across locations in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, Pakistan. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with VMware vSphere environments, including virtual machine provisioning, resource management, backup and recovery, and performance tuning. This role demands a detail-oriented professional capable of maintaining high availability and security within a complex enterprise infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and maintain the VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
- Provision, configure, and administer virtual machines aligned with business needs.
- Monitor the performance, availability, capacity, and resource utilization of the VMware environment.
- Handle virtual machine operations such as deployment, migration, cloning, snapshots, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for virtual machines.
- Perform upgrades, patches, and configuration changes on VMware infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization performance, availability, and connectivity.
- Manage VMware clusters, resource pools, datastores, and virtual networking components.
- Monitor storage, CPU, memory, and network usage, performing performance tuning as necessary.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of VMware infrastructure, configurations, procedures, and operational activities.
- Apply security best practices and enforce access controls within the virtual environment.
- Collaborate effectively with Linux, Windows, Network, Storage, and Security teams to support overall enterprise infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

- Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter Server.
- Proven experience in virtual machine provisioning, configuration, migration, and lifecycle management.
- Solid understanding of VMware networking, storage, clusters, and resource management.
- Hands-on experience with VM backup, recovery, and disaster recovery techniques.
- Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning capabilities.
- Knowledge of virtualization security principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with enterprise storage and networking concepts.
- Experience with PowerCLI or virtualization automation tools is advantageous.
- VMware certification such as VCP is preferred.

Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in VMware administration or managing virtualization infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience handling VMware environments within enterprise or data center settings.
