We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Architectural Designer / CAD Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on a variety of projects including architectural, construction, landscape, interior, and general CAD tasks. This role involves transforming concepts, sketches, measurements, reference images, or client markups into precise, professional, and production-ready drawings. Candidates should be capable of managing projects from initial concept through to detailed drawings and final documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare architectural drawings for both residential and commercial projects.
- Create floor plans, elevations, sections, site plans, and detailed construction drawings.
- Develop landscape and site plans, including layouts, grading, drainage, and site details.
- Produce construction documentation and technical drawings.
- Generate detailed CAD drawings based on sketches, PDFs, measurements, and redlines.
- Develop kitchen, cabinetry, furniture, and interior drawings as needed.
- Create detailed drawings for manufacturing, fabrication, CNC, laser cutting, 3D printing, and other production processes.
- Ensure accurate dimensions, annotations, tolerances, and technical details in all drawings.
- Develop 2D drawings and 3D CAD models when required.
- Convert concepts and reference designs into manufacturable CAD models.
- Work on architectural details, structural drafting, and construction detailing.
- Revise drawings based on feedback from clients or project managers.
- Maintain organized CAD files and adhere to professional drafting standards.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting project deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Solid understanding of architectural drafting and construction documentation.
- Experience with site and landscape plans.
- Ability to produce detailed construction drawings.
- Knowledge of CAD drafting standards, including dimensions, scales, layers, and annotations.
- Experience creating drawings for manufacturing, fabrication, CNC, laser cutting, or 3D printing.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, sketches, measurements, photographs, and client markups.
- Good understanding of materials, construction methods, and practical detailing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with one or more of the following software and skills is advantageous: Revit, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, 3ds Max or Blender, Photoshop, Lumion, Enscape, V-Ray, or similar rendering tools. Familiarity with 3D printing and prototyping, furniture and cabinetry design, mechanical CAD and product design, as well as CNC and fabrication drawings, will be considered a plus.
The ideal candidate should be versatile and able to work across multiple project types rather than specializing in just one area of CAD. Candidates with experience spanning architecture, construction, landscape/site design, interior design, and technical CAD drafting are highly preferred.
This position offers flexibility with part-time or full-time options and is fully remote. The role is suited for intermediate to senior-level professionals. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skill level.
Applicants are encouraged to submit a CV or resume, a portfolio showcasing architectural and CAD projects, examples of construction drawings and site/landscape plans, and if available, manufacturing, fabrication, CNC, or 3D-printing drawings. Please also include a list of CAD/design software you use, your expected hourly or monthly rate, and a brief description of your experience.
