National Bank of Pakistan, one of the largest and most prominent financial institutions in the country, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join as Wing Head – Project Management Office (VP) based in Karachi. This role is pivotal in driving the transformation of the Bank into an agile, future-ready, and sustainable organization by leading the Project Management Office (PMO) within the Information Technology division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, establish, and manage a robust PMO framework, including guidelines, strategy, standards, methodologies, services, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
- Evaluate, select, and implement project management processes, tools, metrics, and governance frameworks aligned with IT portfolio management.
- Continuously improve IT PMO methodologies, processes, templates, and toolkits to enhance efficiency in delivering applications and services.
- Tailor and evolve project and portfolio management processes to create repeatable, long-term benefits aligned with corporate strategy and culture.
- Facilitate resource sharing, methodologies, tools, and techniques across the Bank to promote project success.
- Coach, mentor, and provide oversight to Project Managers and staff, fostering a strong project management culture throughout the organization.
- Develop reporting dashboards and tools to support data-driven strategic planning, risk mitigation, and improved delivery speed and quality.
- Introduce and drive adoption of new tools and processes to continuously enhance IT Governance performance.
- Lead ongoing process oversight, improvement, and reengineering initiatives to embed a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage performance of managers and professional staff through goal setting, coaching, and regular assessment.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc MIS and data reports to support decision-making.
- Identify learning and development needs and recommend annual training plans.
- Ensure all assignments are completed on schedule and in accordance with Bank procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent; a Master’s degree in these fields from an HEC-recognized local or international institution is preferred.
- Recognized Project Management certification such as PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent.
- At least 8 years of experience in implementing and managing a Project Management Office, with preference given to candidates who have led PMO functions.
- Strong knowledge of PMO setup, project governance, and portfolio management frameworks.
- Understanding of IT governance, risk, and compliance frameworks including COBIT, ITIL, and ISO standards.
- Exposure to Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Proficiency in PMO tools, dashboards, and management information system (MIS) reporting.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with banking regulations, audit requirements, and internal control environments.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Experience in a banking or financial services environment will be an advantage.
- The position is offered on a contractual basis for three years, with the possibility of renewal at management’s discretion.
