The Wood Working Maintenance role, based in Karachi, is a full-time position designed with a hybrid work model that allows some flexibility for work-from-home during planning and documentation tasks. The primary responsibility is to maintain and repair wooden fixtures, structures, and equipment across production and office areas. This ensures all wooden components remain safe, functional, and compliant with company standards. Daily duties include inspecting wooden elements, performing routine and preventive maintenance, utilizing power and hand tools for repairs, and coordinating with facilities and production teams to schedule maintenance activities.
Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting related fixtures, maintaining accurate maintenance records, following safety and quality protocols, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the maintenance department.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair wooden fixtures, structures, and equipment within production and office environments.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and safety of wooden components.
- Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively to complete repair and maintenance work.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with facilities and production teams to minimize operational disruptions.
- Troubleshoot minor issues related to wooden fixtures and escalate complex problems as necessary.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation in compliance with company standards.
- Adhere strictly to workplace safety guidelines and quality procedures at all times.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing maintenance processes and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Proven carpentry skills, including construction, repair, and finishing of wooden fixtures and structures.
- Practical experience in equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance within an industrial or facilities setting.
- Proficiency in operating power tools and hand tools used in woodworking and basic repairs, with a strong focus on safety.
- Basic plumbing knowledge to handle minor repairs and the ability to coordinate with specialist technicians when needed.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, including familiarity with relevant safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Relevant vocational training, apprenticeship, or certification in carpentry, maintenance, or a related trade.
