Wordpress Developer

This remote contract role is ideal for a detail-oriented developer with 1 to 3 years of experience who is passionate about clean coding, performance optimization, security, and delivering reliable digital experiences. You will work on building, optimizing, securing, and maintaining WordPress websites for a diverse range of global clients, focusing on fast, secure, and scalable solutions that stand the test of time.

Key Responsibilities

Custom WordPress Development:
Develop and customize responsive WordPress themes and plugins using clean, maintainable code and established frameworks. Utilize WordPress Core APIs and create custom functionality tailored to client needs.

Performance Optimization:
Enhance Core Web Vitals and overall website loading speed by improving database queries, caching strategies, asset management, and server-side performance. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure smooth user experiences.

Security & Hardening:
Implement WordPress security best practices to protect websites from common vulnerabilities and attacks. Manage updates, patches, SSL certificates, permissions, and secure configurations. Proactively identify and remediate security risks.

WooCommerce & Integrations:
Configure and customize WooCommerce stores, develop and maintain third-party API integrations, and troubleshoot payment gateways, checkout processes, and e-commerce workflows.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose and resolve backend and frontend issues including plugin and theme conflicts, compatibility problems, server-side errors, and deployment challenges. Maintain production-ready, reliable websites.

Required Qualifications

Experience:
1 to 3 years of professional WordPress development experience, preferably working on commercial or client-facing websites.

Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Deep understanding of WordPress Core and REST API, theme and plugin development, WooCommerce, and API integrations.

Performance & SEO:
Knowledge of Core Web Vitals, website speed and performance optimization techniques, mobile responsiveness, and technical SEO fundamentals.

Security:
Experience with WordPress security hardening, SSL/TLS implementation, vulnerability identification, patching, and secure development practices.

Professional Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, high autonomy, clean and well-documented coding practices, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
