A reputable textile company based in Landhi, Karachi is seeking a dedicated Yarn Store Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the physical and systematic operations of the yarn store, ensuring accurate inventory control, proper storage, and timely issuance of yarn to production. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work with both physical stock and computerized inventory systems.
Key Responsibilities
Physical Store Operations:
- Receive yarn shipments from suppliers and verify quantities, counts, weights, lot/batch numbers, and packing conditions.
- Conduct thorough physical inspections of incoming yarn for any visible damage or packaging issues.
- Organize and store yarn systematically based on type, count, color, lot/batch, and designated storage locations.
- Ensure all yarn materials are properly identified and labeled.
- Issue yarn to production teams following approved material requisitions or indents.
- Apply FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) principles where applicable.
- Safely handle loading, unloading, shifting, stacking, and internal movement of yarn within the store.
- Optimize store space utilization while maintaining clear aisles and access points.
- Conduct regular physical stock checks and actively participate in monthly or periodic stock counts.
- Identify and report damaged, excess, short, or obsolete yarn to the Store Assistant Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness, housekeeping, and safety standards within the yarn store environment.
Systematic / Computer-Based Work:
- Accurately enter all yarn receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and adjustments into the ERP system.
- Maintain computerized stock records and ensure consistency between system data and physical stock.
- Prepare essential store documentation including Store Receipt Notes (SRN), Yarn Issue Notes, and Transfer Notes.
- Keep detailed item-wise, lot-wise, and location-wise inventory records.
- Regularly update yarn stock balances and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports as required.
- Reconcile physical stock with system records and investigate any discrepancies thoroughly.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of all yarn store-related records.
- Coordinate with the Purchase and Production departments regarding yarn availability and stock status.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary records and documentation related to yarn stock.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in inventory management, preferably within the textile industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong working knowledge of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and IF/IFS formulas.
- Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of inventory management principles.
