Design and Implementation of remotely Controlled Electric Road Sweeper

Hiring a large workforce to clean debris on the roads, parks and streets and pay them as well seems very costly and tiring job. Furthermore, the disposal of this garbage is another task. Focusing on the above-mentioned issues, many technologies have had been developed through years for the collection and disposal of the debris from roads, parks and streets. Although many Road Sweeper machines equipped with scrubbers and vacuums with high efficiency are available in the market, but they are power hungry and expensive. These machines also produce reasonable noise pollution and their maintenance cost is also very high. The basic purpose of this project was to design and fabricate an economical but efficient road Sweeper Vehicle (RSV). Focusing on overcoming the above-mentioned drawbacks, this project was carried out in order to design and fabricate a battery powered Road Sweeper Vehicle (RSV), equipped with scrubber system. Various designs were studied and depending on their advantages and disadvantages the best design was CADed. The initial modelling was carried out using a CAD software named AutoCAD. After designing different parts of the machine such as chases, the tank, arrangement of the scrubber brushes and placement of the controlling circuitry of the vehicle, they were analyzed. The required power for various parts of the system was calculated and compared with a typical road sweeper vehicle power requirement. The proposed machine which was equipped with scrubbers increases the operational time and at the same time decreases the operational cost. An environment friendly road sweeper machine as compared to its industrial counterparts. The overall power consumption of the system was calculated to be 200W, which amounts to 0.268hp.
