Principal strategist and in-charge of HSE Section and compliance department and serving under direct reporting to General Manager Plant, performed internal audit, site inspections, risk assessments, hazard identifications and non-conformities to ensure effectiveness of safety and environment controls in liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
·      Spearheaded certification compliance audits including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SEDEX and URSA; conducted incident investigations and developed preventive action plans, improvement plans for the concerned department and follow-up.
·      Monitored ambient air, boiler stack emissions, waste water, drinking water, noise levels, vehicle emissions through 3rd party EPA approved consultant and also communicated with relevant regulatory government agencies.
·      Assured safe transportation, storage and handling of hazardous chemicals, managed inventory of safety related items like Self-contained Breathing Apparatus, Ammonia/Sulphur /CO2 Gas mask, Dust Mask, Gloves, Uniform and Mandatory PPEs.
·      Led emergency response team (ERT) for Emergencies management, reviewed scope of new projects and developed Safety & Environment related needs like IEE/EIA/EMP/ERP/WWT/FHS/ for construction and operation phases.
·      Conducted HSE awareness workshops, training sessions, Safety Week, mock exercises (fire/gas release/ oil spillage) and safety walks by carrying out training need analysis (Training Matrix). Led construction and operation of Explosives Magazine (EL03).
·      Completed construction, erection and commissioning of 750 TPD Soda ash manufacturing plant; proposed and initiated “HSE LEAD TEAM” consisting of all department representatives to introduce positive safety culture in collaboration with all HODs.
·      Initiated HSE induction program for new recruits in coordination with HR department, filled all gaps in permit to work system and firefighting system as well as ensured compliance of SOP on COVID-19 and briefing to government officials.
 

Influenced HSE dept. at the site and worked in liaison with plant site and HSE management at group level, installed Fire Fighting System (Electric, Diesel and Jockey Pump set of capacity 1000 GPM @ 8 bar) around bagasse yard, Sugar Warehouse, Process and Power House.
·      Managed contractor staff for the erection and commissioning of 12000 TCD plant including major equipment like shredder, roller mills, steam turbines, falling film evaporator, vertical crystallizers, Juice heaters, Indian condensers, fluid bed sugar dryer, sugar Grader and 3 x 80 TPH Bagasse fired boilers.
·      Identified and controlled unsafe activities, potential safety hazards and structural gaps to Resident Director, Project Director and Group Manager HSE for corrective actions also developed emergency response plan and led emergency evacuation drills.
·      Sourced and installed firefighting/safety equipment, safety sign boards and panflex; prepared resource plan and annual budget plan for HSE department, also designed safety reference manuals and SOPs for new workers to understand and apply.
 

Prepared and reviewed Risk Assessments, Job Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for maintenance, fabrication and inspection jobs at furnace reformer, LTS, HTS, desulfurizer, ammonia convertor, Urea reactor, boilers, high pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, condensers, evaporators, absorbers, striper, storage tanks, pits and heat exchangers.
·      Deployed Process Safety Management (PSM) system, participation in HAZOPS, Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) reviews, Risk Management Plan (RMP), Project Safety Reviews (PSR\'s), and Management of Change (MOC) meetings.
·      Exercised hands-on approach and effective controls to organize Safety Meetings and delivered presentations, also ensured strict compliance of PTW (Cold/Hot/Confined space/Excavation and work at heights).
·      Rendered keen eye for details to conduct inspection of compressed gas cylinders, LPG cylinders, welding plants, fork lifter truck, Cranes, Firefighting equipment, fire brigade, ammonia suit, power tools, and scaffolds.
