IoT based smart system for solar panel fault detection

<div><p>The use of PV-based systems has been increasing day by day, it is pollution free and reducest he dependency on external sources, and it gives a return on investments unlike other sourcesu sed for power generation.</p> <p>However, Solar panels must be monitored for optimum power output. Fault detection of the PV array is necessary to detect serious output power reduction and to avoid PV modules’ damage. This helps retrieve efficient power output while monitoring for faulty solar panels, connections, dust accumulation on panels, lower output, and other issues affecting solar performance. These defects should be identified and removed as soon as possible so that the PV panel's efficiency, endurance, and durability are not compromised. To determine the faults of PV arrays, there is a necessity to implement an automatic system.</p> <p>An IoT-based smart system is presented in this report, where data from panels are collected and displayed on the mobile application. This report is focusses on the following aspects, detecting the various faults in the PV system by using different sensors, online supervision of all the panels by using a cloud system, and helping the user to get through these faults by notifying the user.</p></div>
