I specialize in project management, public policy, Gender, monitoring and evaluation, poverty analysis, capacity building, training and facilitation, education, and management expert. My public policy and management expert experience spread over 20 years in social sector development in Pakistan. I have done MSc in Public Policy and Management from Monash University, Australia and also hold a Master’s degree in Rural Development from Wye College of London /Jamshoro University Hyderabad, Pakistan. Besides, I have also received several short training in Pakistan and abroad. I have served in rural and urban settings, all over Pakistan and worked on short-term assignments in Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
I have been working with mainstreaming organizations and managed integrated rural development programmes, grant management and capacity-building initiatives. For example, I managed a five years Gender Equity Project funded by DFID and implemented by the British Council; worked as a Head of Programmes in Sungi Development Foundation and Field Manager with NGO Resource Center. I also worked in advisory positions to provide technical assistance to the government departments i.e. worked as a Gender and Social Development Advisor with Adam Smith International to work on KP Education Support Programme and worked with the Water and Sanitation Project of the World Bank to provide technical assistance to local government.
I have been actively working as a consultant to conduct numerous assignments related to gender mainstreaming, strategy development, monitoring and evaluation, baseline assessments, research and capacity development. As a short-term consultant, I have worked with International NGOs like Oxfam, WaterAid, and Plan International; management organizations like Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI), Athens Network of Collaborating Experts (ANCE), International Consulting Expertise, Adam Smith International, Management System International, UN organizations like UNICEF, UNFPA; donor organizations like Asian Development Bank, CIDA; and national NGOs like Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO), Aurat Foundation, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund etc.
I have closely worked with communities, civil society, government ministries, departments, local governments, donors and other influencers and stakeholders and therefore understand the context of development programmes with design, management and monitoring perspectives.
I have worked as a consultant with WaterAid in past and understand the organization's culture and priorities. I have been a part of an evaluation of the country programme in 2012; a project evaluation on Menstruation Hygiene Management, team leader to evaluate the South Asia WASH Result Based Programme.
I have travelled to the USA, Costa Rica, Australia, Netherlands, UK, Bangladesh, Afghanistan India, and Thailand and represented organizations at national and international levels. I am good at communicating in local languages and English. I can speak, read and write Sindhi, Urdu, and English.
Team Leader, Norwegian Church Aid: Conducting ‘Situation Analysis for public private partnership opportunities for women’s economic empowerment and inclusion in KP.
Worked as a National Consultant to participate in the Real-Time Review of the DEC Pakistan 2022 Floods response through its member agencies. The main tasks included the design of the research study, review of safeguarding policies, conducting field research through qualitative research methods, training and monitoring of quantitative field research, data analysis and report writing.
Worked as a Gender Specialist and Co Researcher to conduct ‘Strategic Review of Sindh Programme for Foreign Commonwealth & Development Organization (FCDO). The outputs of this study will be used by FCDO to inform their potential future support in Sindh. The study was conducted using qualitative research methods.
Working as a Community Development Expert to conduct external performance monitoring of the EU-funded Balochistan Rural Development and Community Empowerment (BRACE) Programme. As a Monitoring Specialist, I am mainly responsible for analysing the programme interventions including Community Investment Fund (CIF), Income Generation Grant (IGG), TVST and Social mobilization with gender perspectives by using Result Based Monitoring Framework.
Working as a team leader to conduct the impact study of the Gender Justice Programme of Oxfam. The main responsibilities include designing qualitative research, conducting field research, data analysis and report writing. As a team leader, I am also responsible for team management and coordination.
· Facilitated EU Delegation to Pakistan in performing monitoring activities of EU-funded Project success. Implemented program in 8 targeted districts of Sindh province by the Rural Support Programs.
· As Monitoring specialist, designed the monitoring methodology based on quantitative and qualitative research tools, conduct field research, analysis of data and report writing.
Worked as a national consultant to prepare case studies and conduct impact assessment of Shock Response Programme implemented by Benazir Income Support Programme and World Food Programme (WFP) in Sindh and Balochistan provinces. Worked as a Development Consultant with the British Council on Aawaz II Programme to develop a handbook/ guidelines for Aawaz II Aagahi Centers which provide information and referral services to the marginalized groups on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Early and Forced Marriages and Child Labour. The tasks included stakeholder consultations, preparing handbooks in English and Urdu languages, training design and delivery to Aawaz II staff.
Worked as a consultant to design a training manual on ‘Training of Trainers: Gender Mainstreaming’ and conduct training of trainers for the master trainers of Local Government School (LGS) and staff of Social Welfare Department, KP Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) and Planning and Development (P&D) department. The topics covered in the manual and training included: clarifying the concept of gender, gender mainstreaming in policy making and project cycle process, gender inclusive governance, gender responsive budgeting and communication skills.
· Evaluated HerWASH project in Thatta district focused on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) by using quantitative and qualitative methods to establish reference values for project indicators we well as Informed the design of key components of the project
· Served as a team leader to design the assessment tools, provide training to the assessment teams, atively participate in qualitative research, analysis of data and report writing.
· Conducted three days training programme for the staff of Pakistan Red Crescent on Gender Based Violence, Prevention and Response; designed program for the new staff working in Tribal Districts of Pakistan.
· Rendered keen eye for details to review grant applications, provide technical assistance to improve grant applications, pre-award programmatic assessment, capacity building, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
