As a senior program manager at the Accountability Lab’s Pakistan office, I oversee the implementation of all programs and projects of the organizations. I provide assistance with its advocacy and policy engagement work, compilation of project reports, coordination for public events with some assistance in building donor relations. I also assist the Country Representative in managing the Lab’s Islamabad and Multan offices, and in implementation of its financial, administrative, and human resource management policies.

The position of Program Officer at the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) required development and implementation of an advocacy campaign around minorities’ social and political rights in Pakistan. The campaign was to be built around awareness on respective rights guaranteed by constitution of the country for the religious minorities, and how those rights were being challenged and questioned by the common people. The advocacy campaign particularly targeted members of national and provincial legislative assemblies, and required them to raise voice at the respective forum for not only protection of minorities rights, but also to do the needful if further legislation was required for the same.

As a district Prorgam Coordinator at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, I was responsible for implementation and monitoring of the project ‘Making Quality Education Accessible in Pakistan: A Social Accountability Perspective’ in two districts named Khanewal and Vehari of the Punjab province. The day-to-day requirements of the job included coordination with the social mobilizers in the two districts, liaison with the public education department’s officials and with the respective communities. As a district project coordinator. Moreover, I also led the organization of public events in the targeted districts, and produced op-ed articles in the Urdu newspapers for promotion of public private partnership for dispensation of quality education in the targeted districts.

I have over two years of working in the health-care sector. Most of this work related to field research, collection of data, and monitoring and evaluation of the public health service deliveries. Most significant of this work included a study on ‘complication of post abortion care’, and on ‘assessing the retention of public health service providers’. Under the Citizen Damage Compensation Program too, I built a portfolio and details of diseases that hit the affectees of the flood affected areas. Finally, I led a baseline survey for the population council of Pakistan on ‘family advancement for life and health’.

My Association with the Oxford Policy Management (OPM) was more of a field researcher and monitoring and evaluation officer. During this association, I was a part of a number of assignments, a brief detail of which includes: Field monitoring and data collection from eight districts of Punjab province. The monitoring related to effective execution of the project named Citizen Damages Compensation Programme (CDCP). For OPM, I also monitored the data collection for the national study on post abortion care in Pakistan in 15 different districts of the same province. This also included conducting in-depth interviews with gynecologists and physicians responsible for public and private programs of healthcare.

As a Research Assistant with the SDPI, I assisted the Research Fellows and associates on a number of studies. The most significant of those included; Sector wide study on gender and employment in textile sector of Pakistan, carried out for the International Labor Organization, Partnership actions for mitigating syndromes of global change for the NCCR, and the report on post-budget round-table series on education, health, the energy sector of Pakistan, and the 18th constitutional amendment of Pakistan that were jointly organized by the SDPI and the United Nations Development Program. Besides this, I was also engaged in development of research tools/questionnaires, and in literature review for the research publications.
