Environmental strategist, water & sustainability consultant and entrepreneur, Sharmeen Tariq is Partner and Director Water and sustainability at Umbrella Consulting. She holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science and Management, and numerous certifications in water systems, policy and governance, environment and Health & safety standards.
She is an expert in developing Capacity building and training programs for challenges like Gender equality and climate change, WASH (water Sanitation and Health) programs in urban and rural communities. She is an accredited specialist and trainer with Alliance for Water stewardship Standard based in Scotland, an international standard body that works on water conservation and good water governance.
She has extensive experience consulting, training, conceiving, developing and executing social equity, CSR, Stakeholder engagement, water stewardship vendor management, implementation of environmental and water standards, Global water education programs and risk management programs.
Working extensively with Multi-sectoral and Multi-level stakeholder involvement who bring different views, experiences, background, knowledge, skills and expertise to the table, she used her facilitation skills and abilities to provide opportunities using available resources to enable them to make progress and succeed by being prepared, setting guidelines, being flexible, active listening , managing time well and appreciating divergent views.
Working with MNC’s such as Nestle, Pepsico, , local industries like bottlers, pharmaceuticals, chemical, sugar, logistic companies and the health industry. She has also worked with the government and ministry of Climate Change Division as a resource & training person on implementation of multilateral Environmental Agreements. And the NGO community that specifically deals with women health and empowerment, on developing environmental and social policies and mechanisms. Alongside an active role in the environmental stewardship committee at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce
She has a long career in training and capacity building for programs like ILES (Implementation of Labour and Environmental Standards) under the ILO Grants project, Local WASH programs, PWET ( Project Water Education for Teachers) for the Water Education Foundation, California USA, and The Oxford University Press on Active Teaching and STEM education. She has shared her extensive field experience with students of A Level Environmental Management program as a visiting Faculty for over a decade.
Alongside her work commitments she also works passionately with Social enterprises like SwAat for Pakistan (Social welfare Academics and Training) a school intervention project, Local charities like TWS Todd’s welfare Society for abused animals and with International Charity as Assistant Governor Rotary International District 3272.
