I am Muhammad Asad Hafeez. I have done Masters in Plant Breeding and Genetics. My Masters degree research topic was "Genetic analysis of yield traits in Chinese hybrids with local rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties". Currently, I am working as Sales and research officer at Bari Traders (Seed Division) Sahiwal Pakistan. I have good communication skills and writing abilities. I have attended different training programs and conferences that helps me a lot to boost up my confidence in my area of studies and research. I am a passionate and disciplined Plant Breeder seeking for a research position in Agriculture sector to pursue extensive research that strengthens my expertise and skills through continuous learning and teamwork.
As a Sales and research officer, I am responsible for:
• The conduction of multi-locational field trials of Corn, Cauliflower and Squash seed imported from Europe as well as record keeping of morphological traits of crops.
• The selection of hybrid/variety with respect to crop maturity ratings, high yield across number of locations, resistance or tolerance to diseases and good crop standability.
• The evaluation of the more efficient use of fertilizer, pesticide, weedicide and micro-nutrients in crops.
• The collaboration with the farmers community to ensure good management of crop production.
• The coordination with seed dealers to boost up the sales of product.
I successfully completed training course on “Biochemical and Molecular Techniques in Plant Breeding” organized by Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology. During this training period I got hands on training about different biochemical and molecular techniques use in Plant breeding such as:
• DNA extraction and its quantification,
• Amplification of DNA and use of different markers in PCR,
• Chlorophyll content measurement,
• Media Preparation,
• SDS-Page
• Agarose Gel and SDS-Page Gel-electrophoresis etc.
I have experienced four-month internship at Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute in Ayub Agricultural Research Institute Faisalabad. During my stay I was actively engaged in research work relating to biotechnology and learned Following Techniques:
• Preparation of MS-Media and tissue culture of Wheat
• DNA extraction and its quantification
• Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
• Agarose Gel Electrophoresis
I voluntarily worked in wheat molecular and genetics Laboratory as volunteer summer Intern. During this stay I actively engaged in laboratory and field research work relating to wheat breeding and learned following techniques:
• DNA Extraction and its quantification
• Wheat plant emasculation and crossing
• Gel-electrophoresis
• Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
• Media Preparation
