Dr. Rakhshinda Ambreen is a public health professional with years of experience in project management, ME research and development in the nonprofit sector. She earned a bachelors degree from Baqai Medical University in Pakistan and a masters degree in public health (MSPH) from Jinnah Sindh Medical University. Currently working as a focal person for Adolescent and Women's Health and Nutrition (AWHN) for Nutrition International Pakistan. Formerly, she served as a Deputy Project Head for the HCID initiative in Pakistan at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Before joining the Red Cross, she worked as a Program Manager for Monitoring Evaluation and Research at Health And Nutrition Development Society (HANDS). She has attained multiple grants worth over 7 million on food security livelihood, climate change, and health. Some of her prominent projects include C4D routine immunization for under two year children in 39 super high-risk union councils of Sindh funded by UNICEF, also developed action plans for advocacy and community engagement, also conducted Food Security and Livelihood Assessment for COVID-19 Pandemic Desert Locust Infestation Monsoon Floods in nine districts of Sindh, for UNWFP and was also involved in IPC analysis of the same districts.Monitored the desert areas of Tharparkar for scaling up nutrition (SUN) project for UNICEF and previously also monitored health facilities in Karachi to curtail the outbreak of COVID-19 for CARE International funded project. Over the past years, she has conducted large national and internationally funded surveys. She also led monitoring and evaluation teams in development sectors such as WASH, Health, Food Security, Livelihood, Gender, Disaster, and Climate Change. She has analyzed large data sets and produced numerous research and ME reports.
In addition to this she also advocates for the eradication of Polio from Pakistan. She is a former Rotary Club Polio Committee Chair. She actively participates on different forums such EvalYouth Pakistan as an engagement task force lead, Integrated Food Security Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) data analyst for acute food insecurity and acute malnutrition for UNFAO.
Moreover, she has evolved as a change-maker, a mentor and has successfully accomplished large projects in a very thin period. She has also presented her research (coauthored with START Network London) as a speaker at the Asia Pacific Dialogue platform on Anticipatory Hub Bangkok in 2020. She also has research publications in national and international Scientific Journals.
Overall responsible for operational and technical support for Nutrition International’s adolescent and women’s health and nutrition programs in Pakistan. Plan, manage, monitor and report on an adolescent girls’ health and nutrition program. Responsible for carrying out the day-to-day tasks of program implementation which will include preparation of ToRs, and scope of work or specifications for supply of commodities and services; identify, select, brief, and monitor the work of consultants, technical support to project teams including consultants, implementing organizations and suppliers, assuring the quality-of-service delivery and recommending improvements as required. Work closely with the Government of Pakistan at national, provincial and district levels and other key stakeholders to ensure government’s engagement and leadership.
Overall responsible as a Deputy project Head.Identifying and prioritizing the HCiD needs in line with the ICRC priorities and strategies in Pakistan.Developing and promoting Health Care in Danger-related initiatives.Providing relevant assistance, responses, monitor and adjust as per the needs of HCiD project. Maintaining networks with local key stakeholders to ensure the efficient implementation of HCiD programmes and represent the ICRC with the local health authorities, media and other health facilities. Within the strategic framework defined by the delegation, responsible for financial monitoring of the project(s) and related supported activities.Contribute in the annual planning (Planning for Results) process and assists the program manager to define the project budgets.Compile reports and maintain data related to project activities and, with the agreement of the program manager Initiative, represents the project(s) in internal and external fora.Reaching out to external contacts in developing and establishing a network of relevant actors to strengthen the position of the ICRC as an actor of influence on matters central to HCiD initiative.
