Gohar Abbas is a development professional having more than five years experience in WASH construction and consultant. He has good communication skills and presentation skills.
Under the guidance and supervision of Project Coordinator, the ‘Team Lead –DRR’will be responsible for the following deliverables;
Support development of criteria for the identification and selection of beneficiary communities, households and individuals for conducting village level Inclusive Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (IHVA) and development of Village DRR Plans.
Develop comprehensive IHVA tool and data collection methodology to assess the hazards, exposure, vulnerability and capacity of communities to withstand the natural disaster events.
Constitute a team comprising of community representatives including Community Resource Persons (CRPs), Local Support Organizations (LSOs) and community leaders and conduct a workshop to orient them on the developed tool and methodology for conducting the assessment.
Conduct IHVA in 100 villages of district Mirpurkhas in the first phase of the assignment. In the second phase, IHVA to be conducted at UC level for the 10 target UCs of district Mirpurkhas.
Lead the data collection, data analysis and reporting for IHVA.
Develop a comprehensive report on IHVA findings, recommendations and proposed way forward. The wider audience of the proposed IHVA report shall include government officials at district, provincial and national level, as well as NGOs, INGOs and donors.
Provide trainings and technical assistance to the field team in preparation of inclusive and community-led village, UC and district level DRM plans based on the IHVA findings.
Provide technical backstopping for the development of School-based Disaster Risk Management (SBDRM) plans, in coordination with the Project Engineer while the Project Engineer will focus on school retrofitting.
Provide technical support to the Project Coordinator and field team in delivering trainings to community institutions on DRR, early warning mechanisms, emergency response, etc.
Provide technical assistance for development of district level early warning mechanism, in coordination with the Project Coordinator and relevant government stakeholders including the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and government line departments.
Assess and report on community needs with the rest of the team to achieve objectives of Cesvi DPDRR project
Incorporate participatory principles into community level to ensure emergency preparedness and response activities
Support field team to strengthen community and school organization’s advocacy skills and ensure that they can advocate for their DP/DRR needs with district administration.
Represent Cesvi at local and national level platforms related to DRR and DRM.
