Duties and responsibilities as a Critical Care and Emergency Nurse:
• Conducts assessment through head to toe on each assigned patient.
• Assesses patient environment for safety, cleanliness
• Plans and prioritizes work to provide best quality care according to patient need assessment.
• Delivers planned care (total patient care) including medication, orders and treatments.
• Under the direction and guidance of the Head Nurse, closely monitors cardiac and physical status of patient under his/her care.
• Performs routine unit specific procedures independently.
• Performs diagnosis, regular checkups and assisting in medical examination and recommends the specialist.
• Demonstrate the safe handling and proper use of equipments.
• Provides safe environment for the patients by following infection control policies and applying the measures for patients.
• Monitors and records the nutritional status of all assigned patients in patient`s chart.
• Assists in emergency nursing procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient’s physical condition.
• Assists the physicians in performing special procedures
• Ensure the quality of emergency medical nursing care to patient.
• Participates in or initiates CPR and Codes when necessary
• Following infection control rules in order to prevent cross infections during hospital stay.
• Evaluates the results of nursing interventions on assigned patients and modifies nursing care by reassessing the patients health status
• Ensures timely, comprehensive and complete documentation as protocol
• Reports incidents on timely basis.
• Practices economical use of equipment and supplies, informs proper authority of discrepancies.
