The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
Design, specify, configure, and install analog and IP based CCTV cameras.
• Maintain and upgrade existing analog and digital CCTV systems as needed.
• Troubleshoot cameras, DVRs, NVRs and related peripherals.
• Install & Program DVR and NVR Recording Units
• Install network switch, router & rack.
• Install, terminate and test Cat6 structured cable
• Install cable pathway (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings).
• Install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone and other cables.
• Dress and route cable into closets and control rooms. Knows the usage of Network test equipment
• Performs installation & service of access control, intrusion alarm and other various security related systems.
• Evaluates, diagnoses, and troubleshoots systems and performs repairs as necessary.
• Performs upgrades and additions to systems in order to increase functionality and usability.
• Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items.
• Establish working relationships with vendors and contractors pertaining to CCTV systems.
• Transports a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) to ensure availability of materials required at job site.
• Responds to emergency situations during or after duty hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.
• Performs computer program entry as required to add closed circuit television cameras, access control devices, and intrusion alarm systems as needed.
• Coordinates with facilities managers and other trades as needed to complete projects and services efficiently.
• Provide technical support to end users covering all security related software and hardware issues.
• Assists in the development of training programs for employees as requested.
