At HSF Pakistan my duties primarily include but not limited to;
Managing the overall finance function;
Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements;
Preparation and analysis of monthly/annual budgets;
Reconciliation of bank statements, accounts payable (vendor accounts) and receivable;
Processing all kind of bank and cash payments including payments to the implementing partners, vendors and supplier after due verification;
Processing payroll along with relevant taxes and other statutory deductions;
Computing and processing of all kinds of staff travel claims and expense reimbursements (both national and international) in accordance with the internal rules;
Petty cash management;
Computing and processing of all types of taxes and dealing with the FBR related tasks;
Responding to financial inquiries of headquarters (Munich, Germany) and local program team by extracting, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting data;
Recording day to day transactions in the ERP with due diligence and carrying out the monthly and year end closing;
Facilitating the work of internal and external audits and ensuring that financial records are properly maintained and readily available during audit;
Liaison with Govt. ministries including the Ministry of Interior and HSF HQ on financial matters;
Compliance with the local laws and headquarters rules;
Working closely with the local implementing partners on financial and administrative matters; and
Assistance in finance and administrative components of HSF Pakistan’s program activities.
During the course of my service with BKR International (Pakistan Chapter) – Muniff Ziauddin & Co. Chartered Accountants, managed to grow independently from junior associate to supervising senior in the service line of audit and assurance, financial reporting & budgeting analysis, taxation and corporate advisory. Working as Supervising Senior of my department, my major responsibilities included;
Development of a core team responsible for the execution of assurance, financial reporting and taxation assignments;
Managing and updating the database forming the knowledge base of the department;
Collaborating with the client management to understand their requirements and to develop appropriate solutions for the implementation of the IFRSs and IPSAS;
Preparation of financial statements in accordance with the IFRSs and IPSAS and audit work programs in accordance with the ISAs;
Extraction of data from the accounting software like SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks etc.;
Assistance in E-filing of income tax returns, withholding tax statements and sales tax returns in compliance with FBR Rules and Regulations;
Development of execution methodology for the assignments and assessment of the resource requirement including the identification of external expert if required; and
Supervision and review of the work of the staff allocated for different assignments.
