Smart Health Monitoring and Guidance System for Visually Impaired

In recent years, health care sensors along with raspberry pi play a vital role. Wearable sensors are in contact with the human body and measure his or her physiological parameters [8]. We can buy variety of sensors in the market today such as ECG sensors, temperature sensors, pulse monitors, humidity sensors etc. The cost of the sensors varies according to their size, flexibility and accuracy. The Raspberry Pi which is a cheap, flexible, fully customizable and programmable small computer board brings the advantages of a PC to the domain of sensor network. In our system we are measuring patient parameters (temperature, heart rate through ECG, body activity, etc) using different available sensors. These sensors collect data i.e. bio metric information which is then given to raspberry pi and then to Matlab GUI. The main objective of guidance system is to assist blind or visually impaired people to safely move among obstacles and other hurdles faced by them in their daily life [9]. The smart system has been tested in indoor as well as outdoor environment. Using this guiding system the blind people can travel in the unknown areas independently. Less training time period is required to use this smart system[10]. The solution developed is a low cost and user friendly navigational aid for the visually impaired.
